Add Raining Effect to a photo using Photoshop


1. Open image in Photoshop (I'm using CS3).

2. Add new Layer (Layer 1).
3. Fill it with "Black" colour.
4. Go to "Filter ---> Noise ---> Add Noise..." .
5. Set values as below and press OK.
6. Go to "Filter ---> Blur ---> Gaussian Blur..." .
7. Set values as below and press OK.
8. Hold "Alt" key and click "New Adjustment Layer" icon in layers palette, then drag up your mouse  and select "Levels".

9. Click inside the check-box "Use Previous Layer to Create Clipping Mask" and click OK.
10. Set values as below and press OK.
12. Select "Layer 1”.
11. Go to "Filter ---> Blur ---> Motion Blur... " .
12. Set values as below and press OK.
13. Re-adjust "Levels" by Double-clicking on the Levels adjustment layer thumbnail.
14. Set values as below and press OK.
15. Select "Layer 1".
16. Set Blend Mode to "Screen".

And here is the final rain effect....
