How to turn a photo into a pattern of colored dots

Today I'm going to teach you how to turn a photo into a pattern of colored dots using photoshop.
Follow these steps....

1. Open the image using Photoshop(I'm using CS3)

2. Duplicate the Background Layer

3. Add a new blank layer between the two existing layers

4. Fill the new layer with black(Edit---> Fill & set "Use" to Black)

5. Select background copy layer

6. Goto "Filter ---> Pixelate ---> Mosaic... "

7. This filter will turn the image into solid-colored squares. You can enter your own value to the  "Cell Size". These squares will become colored dots. So you must remember the value you entered.

8. Create a new document, "File ---> New"

9. Set both the Width and Height of the document to the same value you entered for the Cell Size option in the Mosaic filter’s dialog box in 7th step.

10. The new document is too small. So use the zoom tool and zoom it

11. Use Elliptical Marquee Tool and draw a circular selection(Hold down "shift" key while making the selection). The edges of the selection should touch the edges of the document

12. Goto "Select ---> Inverse"

13. Fill the selection with black

14. Goto "Edit ---> Define Pattern...", give a name and click OK

15. Goto main image, Select background copy, Click on add "layer Mask"

16. Click Layer mask

17. Goto "Edit ---> Fill.."

18. Select "Pattern" and Click on "Custom pattern".

19. Select the pattern that we saved before("Circle 15x15") , Click OK

20. Click on Add "New Adjustment Layer" , select "Hue/Saturation..." , Increase Saturation a bit more.

    That's it....! Now you have nice image with colored dots.
